TextMate 2.0.7 is a versatile plain text editor with a unique and innovative feature set which caused it to win an Apple Design Award for Best Mac OS X Developer Tool in August 2006.

Themes provide foreground, background and a font style (such as bold) to scopes. A scope is defined in the languages grammar. These are available for each language under 'Bundles' - 'Edit Bundles' - Language - 'Language Grammars' - Language. The alpha version of the popular Mac text editor, TextMate 2.0, has been open sourced. As noted by ArsTechnica, developer Allan Odgaard made the decision based in part on what he calls Apple's.
